2020 IPhone Looks Forward To OLED Panel Becoming Standard

Although Apple's iPhone sales are not good at present, the design and development of Apple's iPhone is a big deal for the mobile phone industry, so mobile phone brand manufacturers can't ignore it.

According to South Korean media reports, Apple's new iPhone will adopt OLED panels in 2020, provided by Samsung, LGD and BOE suppliers. Among them, Samsung is the main supplier, LGD and BOE are second-tier suppliers. It is worth mentioning that this is the opportunity for BOE to participate in the iPhone screen for the first time.

Apple's iPhone X was released in 2017 and is the company's first iPhone with an OLED panel. Even the iPhone 8 series, which was released at the same time as the iPhone X, still uses the LCD panel. In the coming year, Apple introduced the iPhone XS series and iPhone XR. Among them, only the iPhone XR still uses the LCD panel, while the iPhone XS series uses the OLED panel.

By 2020, the new iPhone will all adopt OLED panels, and the LCD panels will be extinct. The three new iPhone screen sizes were initially priced at

5.8 inches, 6.06 inches and 6.4 inches. In terms of size data, the new iPhone screen size in 2020 is not much different from the existing model, but the screen design may change. This means that Apple may change the current Big Bang design to other integrated screen solutions, such as small bangs, water drop screens and digging screens.

It is worth mentioning that in the three new iPhones, the 5.8-inch and 6.4-inch high-end versions will adopt the "touch integration" design. In short, the touch panel (TSP) is covered by a thin film on the OLED panel. This design makes the screen thinner and lighter than traditional forms, simplifying the process and saving costs.

In addition, these two high-end versions still use COP screen packaging technology, while the 6.06-inch uses COF technology.

Since Apple has a lot of influence in the smartphone industry, the new iPhone will use OLED, which may turn the entire phone screen into an OLED. The market share of small-size LCD panels will shrink sharply. However, LCD panels will not be eliminated in the short term because LCDs have a cost advantage for some low-end and mid-range handsets.

Regarding the folding of the iPhone, industry insiders broke the news that Samsung and BOE were invited to participate in Apple's flexible folding test. Therefore, Apple may launch an iPhone with a folding screen in the fall of 2020, about 7.2 inches.

As far as 5G is concerned, Apple is currently relying on Intel data chips. Intel 2G 5G data chips will be mass-produced early next year and are expected to catch up with the 2020 iPhone project and testing.

Only 5G does not conflict with these basic iPhones and is expected to appear only on high-end models.

It is understood that Apple recently updated the patent for the iPhone folding screen, which is a design that can be folded in two directions, and uses a new coating to solve the problem of screen scratches and creases, so it is 2019 After the iPhone is upgraded, the 2020 iPhone is more worthy of consumers' expectations.
